Uncharted 3: Who is Drake Deceiving?

Okay, He Doesn’t Look So Old Here

We pointed out above that Drake looks older, but in this scene, when we find out that Drake was reading out the quote from Seven Pillars of Wisdom to Sully, we see that he looks young again, almost exactly as he was in Uncharted 2. What does this mean? This mean, most probably, that there will be a massive time-skip in the middle of the game. Probably Drake will be kidnapped by the enemies, or maybe taken as a prisoner of war, hinting at a more epic scope for the game and the story, or maybe, it’s just the desert and the heat of it that have tired him out so bad.

The Gun And The Hand

As Drake walks forward in the desert, he comes across an AK-47 sticking out of the sandy surface. Drake tried to pull it out, only to realize that it is being held by the hand of a dead body buried beneath the sand. What could this mean? That the desert Drake is in is a bit too volatile for his liking. If the plane has just crashed, as is apparent from the rising smoke and flames, and the fact that Drake and the gun he pulls out are both intact, then the possibility that the dead body that has been lying there for a lot of time, before the plane crashed, is ruled out, because again, the gun in its hand is intact. So this means that the guy died in the plane crash, meaning that it has been merely hours since his death, meaning that there was a raging sandstorm, causing the sand dunes to shift or something, which buried half the bodies beneath the sand. We could have a lot of interesting gameplay parts in the desert that step away from the traditional platforming formula a bit.

Crashed Jeep

This jeep must have been in the plane, and must have plummeted to the ground as the plane crash landed. Hence, its current condition. Look at it, it’s a complete mess, and it’s pretty clear that the jeep fell vertically downward. Who knows, maybe this signifies that we could have vehicle driving sections in the game.

Crashed Plane

Here we can see the wreckage of the crashed plane, smoke still rising out of its burning ruins. But this image is a lot more exciting than it looks, because seeing as how Naughty Dog are experts at such thrilling, dramatic action sequences, we could very well play through the part where the plane is about to crash, with some exciting fights and awesome platforming sections. But how does Drake survive the crash if the plane is so heavily damages? He uses a parachute of course! And maybe we could play that section as well, where we have to avoid the flying debris of the crashing plane, and maybe kill other enemies using other parachutes. It could provide for a really exciting section.

Stay Tuned!
