Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Will Have Silenced Weapons, Lockpicking, More Driving And More Stealth

"A sum of all Uncharted games."

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is, on paper, only a standalone expansion to Uncharted 4, but it looks like Naughty Dog still have some interesting ambitions for the game. The Lost Legacy will apparently include a lot of what has now become synonymous with an Uncharted experience, but there will also be new gameplay additions to the game. Firstly, new elements like lockpicking and silenced weapons are being added to the game for an added focus on stealth, which makes sense, really, considering Chloe is the main character this time around.

Other than that, though, you can expect some fan favourite sections from Uncharted 4 to make a comeback- most notably, the driving sections. However, it looks like there will be a larger focus on player agency this time around. “We’re trying to provide a lot of different options to the player,” game director Kurt Margenau said in an interview. “So there’s parts where we drive, but there’s also a lot of encounters you can engage or not engage with. We have a lot more stealth options, and silenced weapons, and lockpicking.”

The Lost Legacy is, in the words of creative director Shaun Escayg, the sum of everything the Uncharted series has done up until now. “It’s literally the sum of all our Uncharteds,” Escayg said. “We’re building on the foundations that we’ve had and known all throughout Uncharted. We have big set pieces, we climb and traverse enormous statues and ruins of ancient civilizations. So the sense of wonder is there. We also went back to the scale factor that people loved with the old Uncharteds as well.”

“And there’s a lot of puzzles, too!” Margenau added.

That definitely sounds interesting, especially knowing that there’s actually going to be some variation to the gameplay. Should make for some nice pacing in the game. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is due out this August for the PS4. Stay tuned for more updates.
