Vanillaware’s Unicorn Overlord is a tactical RPG with the former crown prince of Cornia, Alain, fighting against the Zenoira Empire. He’s joined by various allies, including seasoned knight Josef. While players will explore the world of Fevrith, recruiting new characters and liberating settlements, there’s also Rapport to consider.

Rapport is essentially a support system built by having units battle together. Upon ranking up Rapport, players unlock stat bonuses, further strengthening units and triggering conversations. Of course, there are other ways to accrue the same, from inviting characters over for feasts at Taverns to giving them Gifts (which will look familiar to anyone who’s played Persona 5 Royal or a Trails of Cold Steel title). There are over 60 playable characters, so that’s a lot of Gifts.

Unicorn Overlord launches on March 8th for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. The next trailer will discuss character growth and training, so stay tuned for more details before release. In the meantime, check out some PS5 gameplay here with combat, exploration and cutscenes.
