During its recent Windows 10 event, Microsoft executive Terry Myerson stated that the Xbox One would support new universal Windows apps. These are apps that have been designed for a single platform, supporting PC, smartphones and now the Xbox One with little restrictions.

This brings Windows 10 closer to Microsoft’s vision of a single unified platform, something which Windows 8/8.1 was unable to achieve during its time. What apps will be available for the Xbox One and how they’ll work remains to be seen but it’s a sign that Microsoft is looking to further integrate all of its devices under the Windows banner. And isn’t that good news for us?

What are your thoughts on universal Windows apps and the Xbox One? Is there any particular app you’d like to see on the console? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for more information on Windows 10 in the coming months.
