You wouldn’t think that Sony would take so long to release a sequel for Until Dawn, the game that practically kickstarted Supermassive Games’ as a horror developer. But here we are and once again, as the rumors claimed for some time now, Until Dawn 2 is officially confirmed. Developed by Firesprite Games of Horizon Call of the Mountain fame, it launches in 2027 for PS5.
As for the connections with the original game, well, they’re sporadic. According to the PlayStation Blog, Until Dawn 2 is a standalone experience and focuses on a new cast of ghost hunters, or rather, frauds. They’re known for staging their supernatural encounters, but upon arriving on an abandoned tropical island, the scares become very real.
There are secrets and a vengeful entity who may or may not be the one chopping up people with a machete. Just as before, you can save everyone or doom them to a horrible fate. Various other decisions await, whether it’s drumming up drama for the sake of content or even saving a baby boar.
The only returning character that we’ve managed to spot is Dr Hill, though his goal is anyone’s guess. Firesprite will share more about the story, gameplay and cast en route to release, so stay tuned.
