Valkyria Chronicles 4 Trailer Highlights Environmental Hazards

Releasing soon in Japan, Sega’s Valkyria Chronicles 4 returns to the series’ trademark strategy RPG approach. A new trailer has released which showcases the various hazards (translation via Netto-kun on ResetEra) that await on each map, especially given the Winter motif to many maps.

Players will across obstacles like snow, which will drain your health slowly and even kill fallen allies quicker if you don’t revive them; blizzard which hinders your field of vision and requires more AP for moving around; and avalanche which kills units that are caught by it. Fog will also cloud your field of vision but enemies will only be detected if you’re very close.

Other facets of maps include fire spots where destroying explosives and flammable materials will create areas covered in flame. You’ll also come across ladders that can be repaired by engineers and armoured trains that carry weapons and reinforcements.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 will release for PS4 in Japan on March 21st; it will arrive for Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch in the West later this year.
