Co-op

You just know you want to take this guy down with a buddy

Vanquish received a lot of criticism upon its release for its lack of multiplayer modes. I can understand the complaint, but I think the fast paced gameplay would feel too loose to make for a solid competitive multiplayer experience. Co-op on the other hand, is a different matter altogether. Though the slow motion mechanics would need to be altered, the high octane combat of Vanquish would make for a fantastically hectic co-op experience.

New ARS mechanics

Sliding was as cool as hell, but we'll need some new mechanics as well

The abilities provided by the Vanquish’s Augmented Reality Suit really gave the game an edge over the competition. The bullet time mechanics were slick, and the rocket slides along the ground offered a lot of tactical variety. This would obviously be an important element of Vanquish 2, but the game would also need new ARS mechanics in order to maintain the series’ originality. I have no idea what kind of new abilities these could be, but I know Platinum Games could wow us once more if they really put their minds to it.

A more fleshed out story

Let's hope we get some more convincing villains next time

Vanquish was more a game of fast action than a deep and complex story. Regardless of this, it wouldn’t hurt to have a more engaging narrative. The whole evil Russian invaders paradigm is getting old, and I reckon the Vanquish universe can be pushed further than this. With a greater narrative focus and a more fleshed out story, Vanquish could have a great plot to accompany its already polished gameplay.
