Raiden isn’t the only one who was bamboozled by the Patriots and their far-reaching plans. Everyone was, essentially, and that included the legendary Solid Snake as well. Snake lived the life of a loyal soldier his entire life, fighting against what he believed were the bad guys, but as it turned out, every victory for Snake was actually also a victory for the Patriots. From his fights and Big Boss in the first two Metal Gear games to him helping Raiden take down Solidus Snake in Metal Gear Solid 2, right down to Snake looking to put a stop to Ocelot in Guns of the Patriots, the Patriots had been deviously making him act as their own agent all along.
