It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call Warcraft 3: Reforged one of the most disastrous releases in Blizzard Entertainment history. Upon its launch back in 2020, the remaster was widely panned for having butchered one of the greatest PC games of all time, and the broken state it launched in also led to Blizzard Entertainment issuing refunds in large numbers. It seems, however, that the developer is taking another swing at fixing Reforged (or parts of it, at least).

Celebrating Warcraft’s 30th anniversary, Blizzard has not only shadow-dropped remasters of Warcraft 1 and 2, it has also released an Update 2.0 for Wacraft 3: Reforged. Most notable among its additions is the ability to freely swap between multiple visual styles- the original game’s look, Reforged’s remastered look, as well as an entirely new style that retains the original’s look, only with enhanced resolution and image quality.

Meanwhile, the update also brings with it a revamped UI, as well as a number of graphical improvements, such as overhauled lighting and improved environments. The original game’s assets have also been uprezzed to HD.

In our review of Warcraft 3: Reforged upon its launch in 2020, we gave it a score of 5/10, saying, “Except for its solid core gameplay and intriguing story, Warcraft 3: Reforged lacks any major updates over the original. In the end, what we have is a game that is a complete disappointment.” Read the full review through here.
