Many who followed the recently concluded The Game Awards event must have observed the noticeable lack of updates on first party games from Microsoft and Xbox. Given that Xbox Game Studios have a suite of first party games in development, you can’t blame Xbox fans who were expecting new development updates on upcoming games like Starfield, Redfall,  and the much awaited Forza Motorsport.

Unfortunately, none of the games from the Xbox family of studios made an appearance. However, it seems that Microsoft is holding off those updates for the future. Taking to his Twitter account, the VP of Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft, Aaron Greenberg reassured fans that they have a “lot” planned and all of that will be revealed will when the “time” is right.

“We have a lot planned to show and share about an incredibly exciting year ahead for 2023. Appreciate folks are eager to learn and see more. Timing is always key, but don’t worry you will not have to wait too long for what’s next from us,” he stated in a tweet.

Given that Microsoft has already announced several new first party games for release next year, it’s a little concerning that we have heard next to nothing about them in the last few months. The Game Awards could have been a perfect platform for showcasing new trailers or gameplay footage, but alas, that wasn’t the case.

One of the biggest games of 2023 is Starfield and that is expected to launch in the first half of 2023, as is Redfall. We have seen a fair bit of the latter of late, but Bethesda has hardly shown off any new gameplay footage for Starfield since June of this year.

We will see how 2023 pans out for Xbox and its first party games. Hopefully we will know more in the coming months.
