Alistair was originally supposed to be a “grizzled Grey Warden veteran”
Those of you who know Alistair also know by now that he does not fit the grizzly veteran, in fact he’s far from it. Alistiar is loony, immature, stupid, unsure of himself and sometimes a spoiled brat, but that’s why he’s got a massive fan base and that’s why we love him. So naturally the original plan didn’t work well for a character that needed to join the player early, and thus he was rewritten.
