where winds meet

The Disguise mechanic adds an element of stealth gameplay to Where Winds Meet, but is not immediately available to your character. Unlocking access to it requires a decent amount of questing, and is actually tucked away in an optional mission.

This guide for Where Winds Meet is all about how to go about obtaining the Disguise skill.

Disguise: Veil Of Love

Begin by making your way to Wuyan’s Shop in Kaifeng region’s Kaifeng City. Keep an eye out for the book icon on the right side of the map, south-east of the Grand Imperial Temple landmark teleport.

Initiate conversation with Wuyan in order to begin the quest, selecting appearance as the response.

Without spoiling too much, failure to obtain the required item from the target NPC is part of the mission, so simply return to Wuyan to proceed.

At this point, you will learn to paint portraits of targets first, in order to disguise yourself as them. Just stalk the target NPC from a reasonable distance to trigger the painting sequence as indicated by the mask icon. Once complete, return to Wuyan to take on the disguise based on your portrait.

Run this quest to its conclusion, and use the new item in your inventory before interacting with Wuyan again.

Disguise Use Cases

You will initially be level-locked from taking on the disguises for most NPCs, but once you are able to disguise your character as them, you can then begin exploring areas that were otherwise off-limits to you. Wuyan will advise you when you need to be a higher level for a particular disguise, and what to do.

There are also opportunities for its use in quests where stealth is a potential method for mission completion. The Mortal Rope Dart Martial Art is one such quest, and even mentions the use of Disguise.

Note that you will need to have paper on hand in order to draw portraits, but this can be purchased easily enough.

That is everything there is to know about unlocking and obtaining the Disguise skill in Where Winds Meet.
