Yoshi’s Woolly World
Okay, first things first- Yoshi’s Woolly World looks disgustingly cute. I mean, look at it! Yoshi has always been an adorable character, but the yarn artstyle does him a world of good. He looks cute as all heck, and the world around him gets character like never before.
It also helps that Nintendo is actually utilizing the art style directly with its gameplay mechanics- the yarn artstyle is crucial for interacting with the world, and for the platforming that you will be encouraged to do if you want to make your way through the game’s levels.
There’s also the fact that this is the first console Yoshi game since the Nintendo 64- and since it is coming from the developers of the beloved cult classic, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, it does have a fair bit of expectations to live up to. Yoshi games have been a bit disappointing since the original Yoshi’s Island back on the SNES- Yoshi’s Woolly World looks like it will finally change that, by being a must have when it launches next year.
