Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus

The Xbox One X has been taking the gaming world by storm since its launch just over a week ago, with many prominent elements of the gaming development community such as Electronic Arts and Blizzard expressing nothing but admiration for Microsoft’s engineering feat. In an interview with Official Xbox Magazine UK, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus Executive Producer, Jerk Gustafsson also had plenty of kind words for the 4K console.

Gustafsson stresses that the “most powerful console ever” also makes Wolfenstein II run fantastically. The added power of Xbox One X allows them to show their game in the best possible way, including enhanced graphics and lighting. Gustafsson compares the system directly to the high end of PCs instead of a traditional console, and believes the system has the potential to create that paradigm shift to 4K.

“If you have the possibility to develop and deliver games that run in 4K resolution and look that fantastic, of course you want to take that opportunity. It will set a new standard for games moving forward,” he stated.

Gustafsson’s claims are backed up by Digital Foundry, finding that Xbox One X does give Wolfenstein II a boost well beyond the PS4 Pro version and into the territory of decent PCs. Gamingbolt called the game perhaps the best first person shooter of this generation in its review.
