World of Final Fantasy 2

There hasn’t been a great deal of information about World of Final Fantasy since the game was announced back in June, but Square Enix has rectified that a bit this week as we’ve gotten some info about the characters you can play as and play with as well as some of the enemies you’ll be facing off against when this game finally hits store shelves.

The first character we’re introduced to today is Lann who is apparently Reynn’s brother. He’s described on Gematsu as being a bit of a dunce, but someone that can be relied on when the chips are down. There’s also Reynn who is the exact opposite of her twin brother. She’s quite smart and quite a bit more cautious. Tama, which looks quite a bit like the Easter Bunny was also introduced as a travel companion for the twins. In addition to the new characters, there are also some well known characters such as Sherlotta, Cloud, Thunder, Yuna, and Princess Sarah from various Final Fantasy games.

As well as an introduction of characters there was also some more details spilled about the story, in particular how your playable characters work with “mirage monsters.” According to Square Enix, “Players will walk alongside the Mirage monsters they befriend in the fields, as well as be able to ride the bigger Mirages. You can discover treasures, get past obstacles blocking the way, and more. By riding bigger Mirages, you might be able to move around more quickly than walking normally. You can freely get on and off Mirages.” All of this information is great, but we still don’t know when World of Final Fantasy is due out, though the game is slated for sometime in 2016.
