Publisher 2K Sports and developer Visual Concepts have announced that the latest iteration of the WWE 2K series of games – WWE 2K25 – will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. The pro-wrestling game is slated to hit Nintendo’s new console on July 23, and is currently available for pre-orders. There will also be a “physical” release of the game, albeit without a Game Card. Rather, it will only include a code that can be redeemed to then download the game from the eShop.

Celebrating the announcement, a new trailer for WWE 2K25 has been released. Alongside featuring the announcement itself by various members of the WWE roster, including LA Knight, Finn Balor and Raquel Rodriguez, the trailer also gives us another look at the action-packed gameplay from the pro-wrestling titles.

The trailer caps things off by revealing that the Wyatt Sicks Pack is a pre-order bonus for those that pick up a copy on the Switch 2 before July 22. Players that decide not to pre-order can still get their hands on the Wyatt Sicks Pack since it is part of both the Deadman Edition, as well as the Bloodline Edition of WWE 2K25.

The Switch 2 release of WWE 2K25 will feature the full suite of game modes that are also available on the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game. This includes the 2K Showcase mode that focuses on the story of various members of the Bloodline, the multiplayer hub known as The Island, and the massive roster of over 300 playable characters.

The Showcase mode, dubbed in-game as The Bloodline’s Dynasty, is especially noteworthy since it spans across several different eras of WWE’s history. The mode not only focuses on the ability for players to follow stories as they actually happened, it also gives players the ability to reimagine history by taking control of members of the Anoa’i family and its friends to win pivotal matches that were instead lost.

All in all, the Showcase mode is split into three distinct categories – Relive History, Change History, and Create History. The third mode includes outlandish what-if scenarios that pit various WWE wrestlers from across different eras of the company against each other in anachronistic matches that never happened in real life.

The multiplayer hub – The Island – is a fully-explorable island where players can not only take part in live events with other players, but also partake in regular pro-wrestling matches, and even visit specially themed parts of the titular island. The trailer showing off The Island from back in February gave us a look at zones dedicated to Roman Reigns and Rey Mysterio, for example.

WWE 2K25 was released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S back in March. In our review of the game – where we gave it a score of 7 out of 10 – we praised the new match types and the addition of promos in the Universe mode. However, we felt let down by the Showcase mode being relatively dull, and the stumbles that the MyRise mode made in its storytelling.
