Metro: Last Light
Metro 2033 was a masterpiece. A flawed masterpiece, yes, but a masterpiece nonetheless. It had visuals to boast of that were matched by very few games, an interesting, engaging premise and great, memorable gunfights. It did have a few flaws, though. Metro: Last Light, its sequel, looks like it’s going to take everything that made 2033 so good and remove all its flaws. It looks like a great game so far, from what we’ve seen, and we definitely cannot wait to get our hands on it. It may not be very high on your hype radar right now, but this is probably one of our most anticipated games for next year.
BioShock: Infinite
Everyone’s been hyping BioShock: Infinite like crazy, and for good reason. The game looks mind blowing, its visuals astounding and its setting very interesting. It looks very different from the first two Bioshock games, but somehow, it looks to be retaining their awesome atmosphere and gunfights. We cannot way to jump our way through Columbia and shoot bad guys in the face, using the unique and interesting mechanics that BioShock: Infinite will have on offer. We may not know much about it, but our hype for it is sky-high.
Ninja Gaiden III
Ninja Gaiden is probably one of the most inconsistent franchises out there. With its reimagining in the previous generation, it wowed everybody. Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black on the original Xbox were two of the best games from the previous generation of gaming. With the coming of the HD era the series lost a lot of its relevance. Sure, Ninja Gaiden II was good, but it was a disappointment when compared to the first game and NGB, which are regarded as two of the best action games of all time. Ninja Gaiden DS and the two remakes were, well, more or less inconsequential. With Ninja Gaiden III, however, it looks like that is all about to change. We’ve seen little of the game so far, but from what we have seen, it looks like it’s going back to what made the original two games so good. We cannot wait to get our hands on it and see the franchise returning to its glory.
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Final Fantasy has lost all relevance in the last few years. The last Final Fantasy game that was unanimously praised by one and all was Final Fantasy X, and since then, the franchise has seen a lot of lows. With FFXIII, all hell broke loose- it was a linear, repetitive game with a bad story and boring characters. It’s direct sequel, Final Fantasy XIII-2, is a different story altogether. It obviously hasn’t been released yet, but fans are already pretty sure that it is going to take the franchise back to what made it so great- being an open, non-linear RPG with a fantastic story and memorable characters. It’s hard to believe that after the messes that were FF13 and 14, people would still want to play games under the brand name, but they do, and honestly, so do we.
