Xbox Boss Defends Against Sea of Thieves’ Criticism, Shares Update On Crackdown 3

"Proud of Rare."

Sea of Thieves is a game that’s been on the Microsoft docket as one of the big upcoming names for a while now, and it recently finally launched on Xbox One and PC. Reception, however, has been mixed, with many people praising the fact that the game’s fun and accessible, while others are criticizing it for its lack of depth. Xbox boss Phil Spencer, though, recently took to Twitter to post a bunch of tweets about the game, speaking positively about the work Rare has done.

In one tweet, Spencer spoke about how he was glad to see people not only playing the game, but also talking, posting, and streaming about it, before saying the Microsoft has plans for Sea of Thieves’ future and will remain committed to this new IP and its growth. In another post, he spoke positively about the game’s social aspects and mechanics, while mentioning how he was “proud of Rare” for conceptualizing and creating Microsoft’s “next big IP”.

In yet another tweet, he responded to a fan saying that the game lacks mechanical depth, saying that it’s been done to make sure the game is accessible to a larger crowd with more focus on social aspects, and that both Microsoft and Rare have plans to build on the concept later on in the future.

It wasn’t all about Sea of Thieves, though. A fan also asked Spencer about the upcoming Crackdown 3, expressing concern with how the game’s been delayed and how not much has been heard of it since then. Spencer responded by saying that Microsoft will be speaking of the game soon in the near future.
