Xbox Boss Meeting With Developers and Publishers In Japan

Securing some high profile announcements for X018, perhaps?

Though Microsoft has historically not had very good relations with Japanese video games developers and publishers, that’s started to change recently. For instance, at E3 this year, Microsoft’s press event played host to some huge game announcements from Japanese studios, from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Jump Force to Devil May Cry 5 and the Xbox One version of Nier: Automata. And if the publisher’s recent statements are anything to go by, their push to have more of a Japanese presence on Xbox is only going to continue.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer, for instance, is meeting with Japanese developers and publishers. In a recent tweet (which you can view below), Spencer mentioned that he was visiting studios and meeting publishers in Japan to talk about games that are currently in development, and to “get feedback on how we keep making progress with creators here.”

The timing of his visit is particularly interesting, because next month, Microsoft will be hosting their own event with X0. Could Spencer’s visit to Japan mean that he’s perhaps negotiating and securing some Japanese announcements for the event? It’s certainly a possibility.

Either way, stay tuned to GamingBolt and we’ll keep you updated on any new info that comes our way.
