Dead Space takes the survival-horror genre and expands the roots tenfold. The game takes place in a futuristic world where players control Isaac Clarke, an engineer for ship systems. Isaac finds himself fixing a starship that is used for mining operations when an alien breed infestation makes its way into the ship as Isaac is forced into helping the crew stay alive long enough for rescue. Players will have to expect the unexpected with all types of different jump scares throughout the game and a wide range of distorted alien creatures.
The developers were able to keep the players on the edge of their seat by implementing a few important user interface tweaks. Gamers won’t find much of a HUD display as most of the notifications is viewed right on the suit Isaac wears or weapon players equip. Take health for example, players will be able to determine how much health Isaac has left from the LED strip going down the spine of Isaac’s suit. Given the lack of AAA horror games these days, a remastered edition of Dead Space on Xbox One will most likely be welcomed by one and all.
