At last year’s Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft said that the vast majority of games that it was showing off would all be releasing within the next 12 months, though as Xbox boss Phil Spencer himself has recently admitted, the showcase didn’t necessarily live up to that promise, with Starfield getting pushed into September and Hollow Knight: Silksong getting delayed as well, while there’s no word yet on when Forza Motorsport will release either (though a summer launch is seemingly being teased).
This year, then, it looks like Microsoft will be changing tack. Speaking recently on the Xbox Two podcast, journalist Jez Corden said that based on some of the games he’s heard will be showcased at the Xbox Games Showcase event in June, Microsoft is ditching the 12-month release window approach for the show.
“Some of the games that I’ve heard are gonna be at the showcase are surely further out than 12 months,” Corden said.
The Xbox Games Showcase is set for June 12, and it will be followed directly afterward by a Starfield Direct presentation. Allegedly, both will collectively be about two hours long.
