Xbox Gets Cheeky Explaining Smart Delivery And How To Get The Best Version Of Your Games

Okay, that got me, I'll admit it.

As we come into a new generation of consoles, there is always a question of how companies will handle a lot of things with many wondering how it would pan out for cross-gen titles. By and large, Microsoft seems to be leading the charge with their Smart Delivery initiative that sees cross-buy, cross-save and cross-progression baked into a single SKU across both the Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X. Well, today they decided to be a bit cheeky when explaining how that goes.

On the official Xbox UK Twitter, they decided to make a thread about how you get the best version of  your games. And well, you can see it for yourself below. I’ll admit, it got a chuckle out of me. While there’s no explicit call out here, it seems this is most likely directed at the recent confirmation that there is no cross-buy or upgrade option for the PS5 remaster of Marvel’s Spider-Man for those who bought the original PS4 release.

Of course, if you want to ruin the joke, it’s not been that simple in actual execution. While Microsoft’s first party offerings, and a slathering of third parties, have been dedicated to the Smart Delivery concept, other big publishers such as Activision and 2K have not. But, at the very least, it’s better than what we got at the start of the current gen, so I guess there is that.
