Microsoft Gaming boss Phil Spencer has made a statement regarding the future of the Call of Duty franchise after Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard is completed. Speaking with The Verge about the deal, Spencer has essentially said that the Call of Duty franchise will also come to PlayStation.

“In January, we provided a signed agreement to Sony to guarantee Call of Duty on PlayStation, with feature and content parity, for at least several more years beyond the current Sony contract, an offer that goes well beyond typical gaming industry agreements,” Spencer told The Verge.

This likely comes in light of a recent statement by Sony to regulatory bodies that Call of Duty‘s release platforms actively influence what consoles players might end up buying.

This mirrors similar statements made by Spencer and Microsoft about ensuring Activision Blizzard’s games remaining multiplatform after its acquisition. Spencer has also stated that Xbox has an “intent to honor existing Activision agreements, and desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation.”
