Xbox Live Won’t Be Coming To Switch Any Time Soon, But More Ports Of Microsoft Games To Follow

I guess this more or less confirms Ori on Switch?

Though Cuphead is coming to Switch, and though it will have Xbox Live integration such as Achievements on the Switch (eventually), we shouldn’t expect Microsoft to bring the full Xbox Live SDK to the Switch just yet. Speaking during their GDC panel earlier today, Microsoft confirmed that that is not on the cards for the foreseeable future, though they will continue to implement that on a game-by-game basis as necessary, such as with Cuphead and Minecraft already.

The more interesting announcement they made was that we should expect more Switch ports in the coming year, like Cuphead—the original rumors mentioned Ori and the Blind Forest and Cuphead coming to Switch specifically, so I assume Ori is incoming at some point too (especially since it had the most substantial leaks). Apart from that—who knows? Beyond these smaller titles, the sky is really the limit. It’s interesting that Microsoft is bothering with doing this at all, though.

Cuphead, meanwhile, launches on the Switch on April 18.
