Xbox One Controller to Last 10 Years

That's a long time..

XboxOneControllerAccording to Microsoft’s Accessories and Hardware Manager Bob Brown the Xbox One controller will last for at least 10 years.

The controller has been thoroughly tested multiple times with different types of abuse over and over again. This is what Bob Brown has said regarding the controller testing:  “each button gets pressed over and over, between 4-5 times a second,” while the “thumbsticks are also tested with repeated use,” he said to Pocket-Limit.

This is an interesting piece of information that Microsoft has released, I personally never heard of anyone talking about accessories testing and their projected lifespan. Considering that the controller is tested for 10 years of functionality it would be safe to assume that the Xbox One planned to be supported for at least 10 years of software.

Sony has stated multiple times that the PlayStation 3 was also built/supported for at least at least 10 years. Now this brings up the question of the PlayStation 4, hopefully we will find out sometime soon.
