Nintendo has released a new trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, one of the bigger high-profile releases this month, providing an overview of the story and characters. It’s in Japanese, but showcases the strong voice acting. Plus the combat mechanics aren’t too hard to discern.

Essentially, you can perform regular attacks on the field and Chains with party members for more damage. Shulk can also use the Monado’s power to see the future and prevent, say, Reyn from taking damage. The complexity of combat grows as more party members and Chains come into play.

Along with the overview trailer are two web commercials in Japanese, which showcase the environments, setting, and some story beats.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is out on May 29th for Nintendo Switch. In addition to the base game with revamped graphics, there is additional story content courtesy of the “Future Connected” epilogue. This takes place one year after the main game and focuses on Melia while providing a new combat system.
