Whether it’s hideous events, hellish jobs or misjudged comments, we all have regrets in life. And the gaming world is no different. So what’s your biggest gaming regret and most lamentable moment? Here are our ten:

10) Misjudged purchase

With games costing the earth these days, buying a new title requires careful consideration. You may think a new release is a day one purchase but without substantial praise from eagle-eyed reviewers such as those here at GamingBolt, perhaps it’s best to hold off to see whether a game musters enough kudos. Who among you thought Star Trek or Lost Planet 3 were going to awesome, eh?

  • K2L

Spoilers and missable stuff are my biggest gripes. I hate when either happens.

  • ChupameUnHuev@

i regreat read the entirely article.

    • Arthur Sataine

Still trying to figure out how exactly the Super Scope “failed.” The games utilizing it were a blast. Or how he hints at the SNES being diminutive. Best console of all time. Way better game selection than the Megadrive. This guy is looking like one of the worst examples of gamer around.

    • Phillip Fauble

I think he was just making points using those examples. Maybe you got this but would have rather had this. There’s a good slate of hardware mentioned. I think he was just trying to avoid a fanboy war.

  • Jeff

This person gets paid to write??? That should be the biggest regret in gaming.

“Cost of the earth” ? I’ve never heard that as a saying and this fool uses it all the damn time.

    • Bryan Richards

I noticed it too, guy needs a thesaurus or a better vocabulary, preferably both.

“No doubt many of you regret getting that PS3 before it slimmed down”

Wow. Really? The fat PS3s are still the best, I wish I had one…

    • Decker Shado

I scoured the interwebs when buying my PS3, specifically so I would HAVE the fatty original model with all it’s backwards-compatible goodness. No regrets there.

    • NWP

Umm fatty PS3s don’t work with PS2 discs, belive me I’ve tried

    • Decker Shado

Not all fatty PS3s, no – but the earliest models did. I got a 60gb model. From what my research tells me, the last model to include PS2 BC was the 80GB model that came bundled with MGS4.

  • Zeuqzav

Seriously now? The SNES has the a huge collection of instant classic games.
And PS3 CECHA01 (fat) are the best for their hardware-based PS2 emulation, multicard reader and 4 USB ports. And they’re sexier than slims.

  • Dan

getting rid of the collections…. vic 20, cbm64, amiga a500, amiga cd32, various pcs, psone, ps2, ps3, xbox360, more pcs, a psp, and a vita

  • Infinity21

    Having sex with my ps3

I have the fatty PS3, then about a week after I bought it, it went down $100, which kinda pissed me off, then after 3 years, I got the YLOD. But my biggest regret so far, was buying the BF4 for the PS3, definitely isn’t worth the money, but that’s just my point of view.

I regret not playing better rpg games

  • WTFissogoodaboutgaming?

My regret is wasting my time reading this article. If you regret these things, you have too much time. If you can’t be asked to play a game twice, don’t get it. I’m a ‘button happy’ gamer (in the loosest respect of the term ‘gamer’) and I have never ended a game. I am now going to wrap my girlfriend’s Xmas Presents as the last on has finally arrived.

  • Halo9x

This happened to me when I pre-ordered the Star Wars 360. I paid $450 plus tax for the privilege of getting one only to see the price drop $50 not even a month after it came out an MS was to cheap to even offer a gift card to cushion the blow. Never again!

  • Mojo

I do not regret the purchase of my 3DO. I still enjoy the titles which were only on that system. After all, what was I going to do in 1995, wait for the next Nintendo? Or buy a PS1 for $400 with a very limited library?

  • defiant1701

I bought a PS3 at launch and its fully backward compatible with my entire ps1 and ps2 collection and is still working nearly 8 years later. No regrets.

Who sticks with one platform? I owned a genesis and a super NES, N64 and Playstation, and so on. Why limit yourself? Buy em used after a year or two.
