Microsoft Announces Xbox One Keyboard Support at Build 2017

Mouse support though? Ehh…

Posted By | On 12th, May. 2017 Under News

The Xbox One will have full support for keyboards in the coming days thanks to the Xbox Live Creators Program. Announced by Microsoft’s Andrew Parsons at Build 2017, where the company’s new Fluent design system was also unveiled, it was a feature that most developers were curious about.

Interestingly enough, mouse support is still up int eh air. Microsoft engineer James Yarrow noted that mouse support “probably won’t work” with Parsons noting that most models wouldn’t compatible from the start. Look for this list to be expanded in the future though.

In the meantime, if you want to stomp on the newbs in Overwatch or Titanfall 2, you’re going to need a device that enables keyboard/mouse support on the console.

What are your thoughts on keyboard support though? How will it impact the system as a whole? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information in the near future.

Yeah, it gets pretty loud over at the Sony booth. Theyve got actual new exclusive games coming that you could use a keyboard and mouse for. I’ll ask them to keep it down so we can continue paying our respects at this extended Xbox funeral.

Forgive my ignorance for not fully knowing all the details, but what is the point of such support if the PC players are still sectioned off from playing on Xbox Live with the Xbox One/Scorpio console players? This is more like a useless public service announcement just to have something good to say about Xbox, after a recent survey showed a huge lack of interest in the upcoming Scorpio console, and now Sony is announcing Bloodborn 2 at E3, while MS is so scared of announcing the truth that they’re just stringing these kids along as far as surprise game announcements go. What a continuous joke.
