PlayStation 3 Manufacturing Ends in Japan
All shipments have “ended” as per Sony.
Sony has finally ended manufacturing of the PlayStation 3 in Japan. On the official PlayStation site for the region, it noted that shipments had “ended”. Henceforth, no new PS3 units will be manufactured. With manufacturing ending in Japan, it won’t be long before the rest of the world follows.
The PlayStation 3 has had an extremely good run, releasing in North America and Japan in 2006. Despite a rough start with its pricing and lack of stellar exclusives, the console saw exceptional support in its 11 years. Classics like The Last of Us, the Uncharted trilogy, Ratchet and Clank, God of War 3, inFamous, Resistance and many more thrived on the PS3.
Many PS3 classics have either been updated for the PS4 in “remastered” editions or can be played via PlayStation Now for $15 per month. What are your thoughts on the PS3’s manufacturing finally ending though? Let us know in the comments below and let’s remember the good times.
