Rise of the Tomb Raider (11)

Crystal Dynamics’ Rise of the Tomb Raider will be running in 1080p resolution according to game director Brian Horton.

Horton confirmed as much on Twitter. Following a graphics analysis by NC Gamer, “Rise of the Tomb Raider footage he previewed is 1080p from an Xbox1.”

There was initially doubt since a number of Xbox One third party titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Batman: Arkham Knight have been running at 900p resolution but this is good news for fans.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is follow-up to the 2013 reboot and sees Lara Croft begin her journey to becoming a Tomb Raider. She’s on the hunt for the city of Kitezh in Siberia and battles against an organization known as Trinity, which helped cover up the events on Yamatai Island in the first game.

Releasing first on Xbox One and Xbox 360, Rise of the Tomb Raider is out on November 10th.

This isn’t a suprise. The last Tomb Raider game was also 1080p at 30 frames on Xbox One.

      Hunh? Not the Defenitive Edition..

    • Rich Garriques

      its 1080p at 45fps

    • Mark

No, the last Tomb Raider game on Xbox One wasn’t 1080p, it was 720p. The PS4 ran 1080p 60fps, or close to it. Xbot1 is wrong

Bu bu it’s only a 720p vcr cable box.

Sorry but nothing about RoTR blows me away.1080p/30fps is doable on Xone the thing is will the game hold that 30fps.

    • Mark

Wow, if u feel that way fine. But the lighting & TressFX alone is impressive to me. And c’mon Mike, “1080p/30fps is doable on Xone but will it hold stable”, same can be said of the PS4. Not tryna start an argument cuz we’ll all be getting dam good games soon, but I think that’s a bit unfair man. Yeah PS4 is more powerful but it has issues too.

The Order, PS4’s best looking game to date, was 800p and @ times dipped below 30fps. Nothing major, but what your talking about def applies to the ps4 as well.

Or will it struggle like most of ps4 exclusives…lol

Rise of the Tomb Raider is gonna be the bomb! 😀

It’s not good news because I’ve played the new upscaled version of Thief (1080p) which has horrible framerate now, which it didn’t at 900p. Also Alien Isolation had horrible places where it was almost unplayable at 1080p. Dying Light ran good at upscaled 1080p but looked crappy due to low resolution textures. Keep it at 900p XBONE that’s where you belong. I like the console just the way it is. This is going to be a disaster, especially during heavy fight scenes. Which I have yet to see any (yet). Grrr. The resolution war is over, PS4 won. But it’s still a boring system!!!

Despite running at a locked 30fps, let’s bring it down to 900p becauz dat is where XB1 belongz, lol
