Platinum Games’ Scalebound has been delayed to 2017. The team announced this on its official site and clarified that this was in order to deliver on its ambitious vision and ensure the game lives up to expectations.

In a statement made by several dev team members including director Hideki Kamiya, “Development on the game is going well and we’re really happy with how it’s coming together. Scalebound is one of the biggest games Platinum Games has ever created: an epic adventure filled with exploration and fantasy gameplay, inventive multiplayer, and action-packed battles on an unbelievable scale – all set in a beautiful and evolving world. It’s the game our team has always dreamed of making.

“In order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that Scalebound lives up to expectations, we will be launching the game in 2017. This will give us the time needed to bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experiences that we have planned. We know you’re excited to see more and thank you for your patience. Scalebound is a truly special project that’s been several years in the making, and we are very proud and inspired by all the work our team has done so far.”

Scalebound is in development exclusively for the Xbox One. What are your thoughts on the delay? Let us know in the comments.

I was fully expecting a delay because Microsoft hasn’t shown much outside of Scalebound, Quantum Break, Recore, Halo Wars 2, Gears of War 4, Crackdown 3, and Sea of Thieves. I think it is foolish to think Microsoft would release all of these in 2016 leaving nothing for 2017. Microsoft better have a lot of new games to show at E3 because 2017 is looking weak, while Sony has been announcing a larger exclusive line up for 2016 and beyond.

I think so too. How is Recore coming out this year when we haven’t even seen any gameplay? 0_O

Wasn’t very excited about the game even though many were…then Platinum showed gameplay footage and I was amazed….specially at the prospect of multiplayer.

I will say the same thing i said when Uncharted was delayed for a second time…let’s welcome these delays because we will end up with a better game in the end.
