Insomniac Games’ Spiderman for the PS4 is still a ways off but it’s receiving positive attention all around since its reveal at Sony’s E3 presser. It’s not only gamers who are impressed with it though. While speaking to Weekly Famitsu, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda spoke about his favourite games at E3 and was most surprised by the quality of Spiderman.

The other big name game that cause Matsuda by surprise was God of War, an intriguing new beginning in SIE Santa Monica Studio’s franchise. Matsuda also felt that E3 was being used as a turning point of sorts with more publishers making announcements before the actual show and then using it to offer more information.

There’s a balance to be maintained with delivering news to consumers (which can be done through streaming gameplay) along with using the exposure a trade show can provide. Neither God of War nor Spiderman have release dates and it will be interesting to see if they can maintain interest in the meantime.

Uh, shocked at the quality cutscene?

    • Starman

Not even cut scene ….. A tech demo … they couldn’t make their pet project “UC4” to look like that , but we are to believe spiderman , in that short period of time look’s and plays like that … not to mention “insomniac” already said they haven.t come up with an engine to develop yet , and it’s a long way off before we see it ..lol it was yet another fake .. as was Kojima’s reveal..

    • Sponge Bond

Insomniac said on twitter that was in-engine footage and also confirmed they were using the same engine as Ratchet and Clank…. so I don’t know where you heard that ‘come up with an Engine’ stuff.

    • Starman

Another one in denial….. But Ratchet and Clank looks nothing close to that quality …. Ok , you all think you’re getting a game like that , and correction fanboy … They’re working hard to create the proper engine for it tweaking the ratchet and clank engine … Meaning it’s not quite done yet … The PS4 has no games that look like that , period! And I’m talking all in house games … FACTS so please STFU not sure where you get that BS FROM

    • how ya doin?

Woah, kid I get you’re a pc elitist who can’t accept that ps4s graphics are better than pc but you need to calm down.

    • Joe_HTH

LOL! Not even you are stupid enough to believe that.

    • Joe_HTH

Yeah, and we all know what in-engine means. It means not realtime and not gameplay.

    • kee1haul

      Well said.

  • red2k

Me too. I’m not a huge fan of Spiderman but definitely I need the game.

Nintendo and Sony’s first-party projects are always a cut above.

    • Martyn Gray-Horwood

Agreed. I’m starting to think that Microsoft has lost its way on First party games. The worst thing Microsoft do is hand off beloved franchises to different Devs. Regardless of how many people switch to that new dev, if the important people don’t go too the game loses its soul as has happened with Halo and as I am expecting with Gears of war.

I lost all hope in their games. Sony is just pouring out good exclusives recently and pc is finally showing some or a couple of good games.
