Uncharted 4 A Thief's End

Naughty Dog have finally revealed Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in its full glory and honestly, it’s looking gorgeous and every other word that defines beautiful. Actually, it’s no surprise given Naughty Dog’s pedigree and the work they have done on the previous Uncharted games and The Last of Us. There is no doubt that they know how to push the platform to its absolute limits.

Now that you have seen the gameplay trailer, it’s time to drool over some direct feed screenshots for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Check them out below. The screenshots have been taken from a thread on Neogaf which you can check out here.

You will also find comparison between the E3 reveal screenshots and the recent gameplay ones. The E3 reveal was running in real time on the PlayStation 4, GamingBolt was able to confirm with Naughty Dog back then. However some people have noticed a slight drop in quality of the gameplay screens however we think that is due to the difference in time and weather conditions, resulting into different lighting effects.

Are you looking forward to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End? Let us know in the comments section below.

that downgrade. Rise of the Tomb Raider will be way better, and is console exclusive to Xb1

    • bigshynepo

And it won’t be half the game that U4 is…
I saw more exciting action in that 10 minute demo of Uncharted than I did in the entire game of Tomb Raider. Besides, we’ll play RofTR on PS4 eventually, mark my words.

How will a cross gen game like Rise of the Tomb Raider with PS2 generation animations like TR 2013 RUNNING AT 712p, 792p, 900p PICK ONE, be better looking than this? TR 2013 didn’t even beat Uncharted 2, released in 2009, technically.

    • bardock5151

      Lara, that’s why.

    • Psionicinversion

It’s not console exclusive it’s just timed, not even allowed to come out on pc either for a while

    • Gene

      U4 = 100% exclusive
      RotT = timed

HOLY SH*T. Downgrade confirmed, just like they did with previous Uncharted games. What a lying bunch of overhypers Sony are. Much less detail on basically everything in the scene and the lighting is worse too.

    • popo123

Lol you’re showing screens showing improvements in the visuals not a downgrade.

    • andy

Haha great sarcasm there right? Please tell me you are being sarcastic when you post a pic that shows us just how the game got better from E3 to Final Version with Uncharted 3.

    • bardock5151

      There you go. Better?

    • Midstr8

the final looks better than the e3 in your pics, and your last 3 comparisons were to pixelated to compare…

    • Midstr8

Cutscenes Getting downgraded! LMAO! They are cutscenes Who cares! This is the first time we ever seen real gameplay, lets see if that gets downgraded.

How can you say downgrade when you the graphical fidelity is near the
same? Have you seen the comparison between the original Nate character
model and the Sam character model shown in the gameplay? The only
difference is the amount of detail of the foliage, not characer models.
People who are saying other wise are confusing the lighting with a
downgrade. Read the new issue of Edge and you’ll see that the graphical
fidelity has stayed the same. You can also watch the PlayStation
Experience, and, furthermore, Naughty Dog has already confirmed that it
was not, in fact, downgraded. They’ve also said that they’d rather have
the game running at 30fps rather than to downgrade the scenery in favor
of 60fps. If you read the sources I’ve mentioned, which are linked
below, you’ll see that there was never a downgrade. That doesn’t mean
that there won’t be one in the future, but from what I’ve read and seen,
there isn’t a difference other than the foliage and time of day
      (lighting).

Here’s a comparison between the Sam character model, and the E3 Nathan model. Notice both have their features highlighted and appear to be wet––Nathan with water, Sam with sweat. There is still the same amount of fidelity present in the Sam model. The Nathan Drake model retains all of the detail as the E3 build, however, those fine details are harder to notice. Some reasons that Sam looks more detailed is because 1) he’s in direct sunlight, which makes it easier to see wrinkles and imperfections, etc., 2) he’s glistening with sweat, so pores are highlighted, 3) he’s closer to the screen, and 4) they used the lighting to highlight his features, which shows us more texture.

The screenshot of Sam that I provided was taken while I watched the uncompressed version of the demo. I did this because it was better quality than the one on this website.

Btw those are not Direct feed. They are screenshots taken from the Youtube video. lol

    • bardock5151

You can still see the downgrade on visuals, lightings worse, a very large drop in poly’s and they’ll have more to cull. Its probably 900p too.

    • popo123

It’s native 1080p 30fps. The lighting looks great to me and you can’t compare the two in terms of lighting when the other is set at night while the gameplay vid was set in the morning or afternoon. Nate was also wet in the teaser. That said there is indeed a downgrade on Nate’s character model. His hair specially looks very edgy and isn’t as detailed. The environment however looks about the same, if not better. It is even more impressive as their is zero pop-ins in leaves, trees and texture. The lighting shining through the leaves giving off a subtle greenish glow looks wonderful. If you want a better look at the video, go on to gamersyde and download the direct feed video. Naught dog also confirmed it is a pre-alpha footage.

    • extermin8or2

Hate to have to say this but the games like a year off release…

    • bardock5151

Yeah it’s not going to look like the E3 trailer. It’ll look better than Ryse atleast, as it should with a more mature tools.

    • packman627

its running @ 1080p 30 fps ATM. The last few months before release is when they optimize for the framerate. Let’s wait and see

    • bardock5151

The target of 60 is a no hope at this point honestly. Because they’ve only hit 30fps and are a year from release, its a sure bet they’ll aim for a solid 30, which is fine except for the fact they gave alot of people false hope for 60fps and a fidelity benchmark that still won’t be reached by either console for atleast another two years. That’s a little off track though.

    • packman627

wow cause you know how to develop games don’t cha? Did you know that BF4 on next gen wasn’t running so well just a few months before release and when it was shipped it ran almost 60 fps the whole time (now with the updates it runs @ 60 99% of the time)
Unity was poorly optimized but one of the developers said that they work on the framerate just a few months before release. A lot can change in a year and if anyone can pull it off, its ND. BTW its ALREADY 30 fps solid. IN PRE ALPHA.
They could be having the game running @ 50 fps but didn’t want the judder so they capped it @ 30.
We don’t work @ ND so we’ll just have to wait and see.

  • 2M

Hey all” confirmed this is pre alpha ok …GamingBolt how you don’t know!!!?

Down grade or not it’s killing anything out now and to come. Maybe the final judgement should be reserved upon release. This game has roughly 1 year to go.

  • TheWayItsMeantToBePlayed

Downgrade confirmed then. Wonder how Sony is going to spin this.

  • Mark

Yeah these companies need to realize that we’ll eventually see the darn games. No need to throw out there huge promises of CGI quality and 60fps…….it’s worse to be underwhelmed than to be filled with CGI filled hype. UC4’s particles, water and foliage do look amazing tho. Still, this and The Order have defenitely been downgraded to me.

  • Kfal Balli

Definite downgrade but I already knew this would happen. It stills looks good but just not amazing as it did at E3.

same? Have you seen the comparison between the original Nate character
model and the Sam character model shown in the gameplay? There’s no difference. So if the same amount of detail is visibly present on Sam, the logic would dictate that the Nate build has the same amount of detail. The only difference between E3 and the gameplay is the amount of detail of the foliage, not character models.
