Just a month after first kicking off its new wishlist-based promotion for 007: First Light, IO Interactive has announced that the James Bond game is its fastest title to get more than 500,000 wishlists. 007: First Light has officially beaten the Hitman games when it comes to IO Interactive titles getting wishlisted before their release. The studio announced that, by crossing the 500,000 wishlists milestone, the Savanna Bloom unique skin has now been unlocked for everyone.

“The Savanna Bloom skin has been unlocked for everyone by reaching the first wishlist milestone,” announced the studio on social media. “This sharp and effortless tropical look will be made available at launch, adding a touch of effortless elegance to your espionage adventures.”

The second milestone is 1 million wishlists, and will unlock a new Gadget Skin for everyone. This milestone, coming in at 1.25 million wishlists, unlocks a new Deluxe Skin, while the fourth milestone at 1.5 million, has a secret reward that IO Interactive hasn’t yet revealed the details of. Along with these rewards, as part of hitting the first milestone, the studio is also releasing a set of animated wallpapers based on the game.

This wishlist milestone-based promotional strategy was first announced back in early July. “The mission is simple: rally together and unlock the Wishlist milestones for 007 First Light,” wrote the studio in its announcement. “With every milestone reached, new in-game and community rewards are unlocked, adding style, sophistication, and a secret reward.”

The first look we got at 007: First Light came about thanks to an announcement trailer from back in June. The game will serve as a sort of origin story for James Bond, putting players in the shoes of a younger version of the MI6 agent. The game is slated to be a cinematic one, in contrast to the more gameplay oriented design behind IO Interactive’s Hitman franchise. However, the studio has also stated that some of the Hitman DNA can still be found in 007: First Light.

Rather than focusing all the way on its narrative, 007: First Light will instead strive for a balance between high-stakes action sequences and the more systems-based gameplay that we are used to with the Hitman games. Franchise director Jonathan Lacaille had spoken about this a couple of months ago.

“It’s either or,” Lacaille said, referring to action-packed gameplay and Hitman-styled systemic gameplay. “IOI has a pedigree, and that fits really well on IP, so we are leaning into that, of course. But that would not tell the full story of who Bond is.”

“We are leaning a lot on what IOI does best, but we had to come up with a lot of new things that IOI had to learn and to reiterate on to really bring the full Bond experience,” Lacaille continued. “For instance, driving, not done that before, and we’re doing that now.”

007: First Light is being developed for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, and is set for release some time in 2026.
