The action adventure is one of the staple genres of gaming, and it is one that seems to be immune to the passage of time. Every year sees the release of top class adventure titles, with every subsequent game seeing the bar raised ever so slightly higher. It’s a slow and steady level of improvement we see within the genre, but 2013 may give the action adventure a real shake up. We have plenty of great action games to look forward to next year, and here are ten of the best. This list includes new IP/franchises as well as the age old big names.

1. Remember Me
Turning plenty of heads at this year's Gamescom, Remember Me looks to be one of the defining new intellectual properties of 2013. Though the main crux of the game looks a lot like a sci-fi interpretation of the Uncharted series, Remember Me features rather unique puzzle sections where you reprogram peoples' memories. If used well, this gameplay and plot device could make Remember Me one of the more unique adventure games of 2013.
