FINAL FANTASY 13 – MORE FOCUS ON STORY
Final Fantasy 12 definitely ranks as one of the best games in the series, but it’s also one of the more unique ones. The game’s got a rich world with oodles of lore, and it’s not that it doesn’t focus on storytelling- it just focuses on its expansive world a lot more. It’s a much broader experience. Of course, there were many at the time of the game’s launch who did not like the approach it had taken, and like we’ve seen with so many other examples in this list, in response to that feedback, Square Enix overcorrected. In its attempts to put a much greater emphasis on its storytelling, it ended up delivering what was, for the most part, an extremely linear game, which just isn’t what one usually expects to see in a Final Fantasy game. What’s worse, the story it did tell was also a bit of a confused mess, to say the least.
