MONSTER HUNTER WORLD – STREAMLINED AND FOCUSED ON CONSOLES

Monster Hunter World Updated Event Schedule 2

Unlike pretty much every other controversial change we’ve spoken about in this list, this is one that actually paid off and turned out to be the best possible decision. Monster Hunter was already a hugely successful franchise before World came along, but Capcom wanted to take it even further, and expand its audience to outside of Japan as well, which was mainly where the series’ popularity came from. In order to reach more players, be more technically ambitious, and be more welcoming to newcomers, Monster Hunter not only made the jump back to being a console exclusive series World, it also ended up significantly streamlining the experience. Though many feared that the streamlining would lead to a dumbed down, shallower game, it turned out that Monster Hunter World ingeniously cut out the fat and polished the core loop of the series to a sheen, and ended up delivering an absolutely excellent game. A controversial decision- but thankfully, Capcom were proven right.
