9. xx Edition

If there's one facet of Modern Gaming I love more than anything else, apart from DRM, the death of local multiplaer and pawning your loved ones to buy Playfish tokens, it's paying a £5 deposit for a game to get weapon and character skins. This truly is the coup de grace of all that is good and pure in this word. What I simply don't understand is how, from a marketing perspective, anybody can possible be swayed by this sheer tokenism? Everybody loves a plushie, a figurine or a replica piece of something from the game world, so if we're going to be extorted, wouldn't it be far preferable to get something real in return?
