9. Half-Life
Another example of a Valve game crying for less linearity. The Half-Life games have always used clever suggestion to present massive levels that never feel confusing and, though the effect is impressive, it can't get away from the fact that Half-life has always been a straight-forward shooting experience. Getting to sneak around City 17 freely would be something else, and would really give Half-Life 3 the edge it needs to survive the sheer amount of hype that has surrounded it all these years.
