Just when it seemed like Crimson Desert’s first DLC, Charting the Unknown, would go toe-to-toe with several other releases on October 15th, Pearl Abyss has announced a delay. It’s now launching on October 29th at 3 PM PT.
The developer noted that it’s been “hard at work” on the DLC, but determined that it needs “additional development time to deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience.” It apologized to those anticipating it, but said it would “use the additional time to further refine the content and do our utmost to deliver the best experience we can.”
Whether it’s trying to get out of the way of a busy first half of October, there’s no denying the other elephant in the room: S-Game’s Phantom Blade Zero. The action RPG also launches on October 29th and is arguably more anticipated than the DLC, with over three million wishlists (that too on just two platforms). Time will tell if there’s room for both, so stay tuned for updates.
Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown will retail for $25 at launch and features new locations for players to explore, including islands, aquatic ruins and more. Kliff can explore underwater courtesy of a new diving suit or sail the high seas on his own ship. That’s not even considering the new features, including a more complex Housing mode (where you can assign Greymanes to tasks), a new story, and, of course, various new bosses.
