Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 PC Specs and Features Revealed

Infinity Ward has revealed more details about the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which will be available on three platforms – Xbox on PC, Steam, and Battle.net. Some of the PC-specific features for the upcoming shooter include optimization to ensure high frame rates, support for a variety of display resolutions like ultrawide, and the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system, among other things.

The PC port, developed by Infinity Ward in collaboration with Beenox, will also offer more options to enhance visibility and target acquisition. PC players can make use of Enhanced FOV, which simulates physically accurate lens effects to increase the player’s field of view near the edges of their displays. Interestingly, this is done without affecting the center FOV, allowing players who prefer their FOV settings to be low to still get better situational awareness.

Modern Warfare 4’s PC release will support HDR10+, through which the title can interact with the display’s brightness settings in real time to adjust contrast and lighting as needed. Players will also have access to a variety of graphics settings, including sharpness sliders, shading quality, a Filmic SMAA T2X setting, screen space reflections, shadow filtering quality, and screen space lighting and occlusion.

Digging deeper into some of these toggles, the studio has explained that Depth of Field will be available across two settings: World Depth of Field and Weapon Depth of Field. This will allow those who prefer a sharper world to still experience realistic DoF effects on their weapons.

Infinity Ward has confirmed that its recommended PC specs for Modern Warfare 4 have been picked around a target of 90 FPS. All game modes – Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ – will feature support for ray tracing, as well as resolution scaling technologies like AMD FSR Redstone and Nvidia DLSS 4.5. The shooter features advanced shader delivery that reduces the typical “Shader Preloading” time and will save players plenty of time when they decide to boot up the game.

As for hardware requirements, at minimum, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will need a PC with an AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600 CPU, 8 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970/1060, an AMD Radeon RX 470, or an Intel Arc A580 GPU with 3 GB of VRAM, and 115 GB of free space on the SSD.

The recommended specs involve an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i7-8700K CPU, 16 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, an Intel Arc B580, or an AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT GPU with 8 GB of VRAM. For ray tracing while running at 4K, the studio recommends either an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or an Intel Core i7-10700K CPU, 32 GB of RAM, and either an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT or an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU.

As for gameplay, the studio has also revealed a new multiplayer game mode designed for fans of Call of Duty’s Search and Destroy mode. Dubbed Collateral, teams will alternate between attacking and defending two bomb sites, and while everyone starts out with pistols, they can earn in-game cash over the course of a match to buy upgrades. These upgrades include armor and perks, grenades, new guns, advanced guns, and even a UAV for the entire team. Much like games like Counter-Strike, players lose their loadout when they die, with the next round only giving them a pistol yet again.

Pre-loads for the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 are slated to become available on October 15th. The shooter is also coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
