Dark Demon – Demon’s Crest

The Ghosts ‘n Goblins series is a series of platformers renowned for being immensely difficult. As someone who is a fan of Mega Man games, I would even argue that this series of games is more difficult than the Mega Man platformer games. Demon’s Crest is a spinoff of these series in which you play as Firebrand, one of the species of red-winged gargoyles found in the Ghosts ‘n Goblins series and the protagonist of a set of spinoff games called the Gargoyle’s Quest games. The fight against Dark Demon is only accessible after first collecting all items in Demon’s Crest and defeating the final boss, Phalanx, after which a password will be provided to game players. Using it will unlock a fight against the Dark Demon. It can alternate between two forms, and unlike other bosses, doesn’t flash red to indicate being near-death, so one must persist in this fight rather than wait for a cue of being near-victory!
