Fixed Camera Angles for Survival Horror – Resident Evil Series

Resident Evil 7: biohazard and Resident Evil 2 (2019) are both excellent survival horror games, don’t get us wrong. But there’s just something delightfully terrifying and obtuse about the fixed camera angles that the older games had. Not knowing what’s around the corner or even which side a threat could be coming from and how these lent to the games’ story-telling made them cool. We understand why they inevitably phased out – controls could be problematic and there are more benefits to having a free perspective. Still, even if it’s only for the nostalgia, we’d love to see fixed camera angles make a return some day.
