7. Assassin’s Creed II

Okay, now that is just a demo video from the E3 before the release of Assassin’s Creed II but it perfectly showcases all the variety of gameplay that can be found in Assassin’s Creed II, and it is this very varied structure that Assassin’s Creed II is so addictive. Not only are its missions very well thought out and fun to accomplish, free roaming in medieval Italy is incredibly fun, especially with all the new things that can be done in the game, i.e flying, swimming, rowing boats etc. There are also a variety of side missions, like some missions based solely on platforming and puzzles, and Assassination contracts and the like and a ton of collectible items and codex pages to get your hands on, so Assassin’s Creed II will keep the players hooked to itself for a long, long time, even after you have completed the twenty-hour long campaign.

6. Halo: Reach

While the single player campaign of Halo: Reach is one of the best campaigns to have been featured in any First Person Shooter in recent memory, it is not the single player, but in typical Halo fashion, the online/multiplayer component that has kept players hooked to the game even now, months after the game’s release. Halo 3’s and Halo 3: ODST’s multiplayer modes were addictive as hell as they were, and Halo: Reach refined them to the point of perfection, adding to the mix some of its own new modes like Invasion, while also completely changing the Forge Mode and the Firefight mode for good. Halo: Reach will, just like its predecessors, definitely be played for many more years to come, online or off (well, most probably online).

5. FIFA 11

FIFA games are addictive as hell, and what better example than FIFA 11, or maybe 10, to back that statement? One can spend months and months at end- in not years- playing the same installment of the series, and never get bored. Add to that the fact that FIFA 11 has a multitude of new modes to boast off that can keep us hooked for a long, long time, like the three different types of Career Modes, the Be A Goalkeeper mode, the exhibition matches, so many creation tools, online sharing, and not to mention the online competitive multiplayer, and we have a winner on hour hands. I bought FIFA 11 on the day of its release and still have not been able to let go of it.
