7. Eternal Sonata
Though I’ve already had my sound off about JRPGs this gen, Eternal Sonata deserved its own unique entry. Set in the final dream of a dying Frederic Chopin, ES is a rare example of a JRPG set entirely in the mind of a famous composer. Other titles attempt to bring in figures from history, but very few have done it with this much style and depth. Everything is based on music, from names to monster designs. It's a beautiful theme, one that was looked over by reviews that focused too much on the annoying voice acting. Just turn it to the original Japanese audio with subtitles and get ready for one of this gen's most interesting scenarios.
