Prey 2
If you ever have to think about a sequel and studio with a complex history, you have to think of Prey 2. It was announced in 2006 but development actually started in 2009 after ZeniMax Media acquired the rights. Bethesda would release an official trailer at E3 2011, showcasing a more sci-fi environment with bounty hunter Killian Samuels as the protagonist. However, development troubles emerged later that year with rumors stating that Human Head Studios was off the project. As rumors circulated about Bethesda potentially sabotaging the sequel (which it had denied), Prey 2 was officially canceled in 2014. In 2016, a new Prey emerged, developed by Arkane Studios and serving as a reboot. Human Head Studios would go on to develop several other games, its last being Rune 2 before it shut down and reformed as Roundhouse Studios under, oddly enough, Bethesda. That’s a whole other can of worms entirely though.
