Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain – The Entire Game Is Likely A Flashback
Kojima Productions’ swansong Metal Gear is chock-full of secrets that first-timers will most likely miss out on. One such secret revelation that happens at the very end is the fact that Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is a flashback of sorts, as the game opens up with Venom Snake looking at himself in a mirror while listening to a tape titled, “From: The Man Who Sold The World”. The game also ends in the same place, although Snake now has another tape titled, “Operation Intrude N313”. Upon further inspection, it can be deciphered that the mirror sequence takes place in MGS1‘s Outer Haven, a belief that is further solidified by gunshots from the background assumedly caused by Solid Snake. This, in turn, gives way to the deduction that Venom Snake is recalling all these past events before going out to face Solid Snake.
