Rather than concrete confirmation, speculation along this line would owe to a pattern that Microsoft has been setting of releasing a new Forza game every year since Forza Motorsport 4. That being said, developers Turn 10 Studios seemed to suggest in the Autumn of 2018 that there isn’t a new Forza Motorsport game planned for release in 2019, and rather that they will be retooling and updating Forza 7 while simultaneously working on Forza 8, which “may” release in 2021 if Playground Games releases a hypothetical Forza Horizon 5 in 2020. Creative Director Chris Esaki explained that Turn 10’s revisiting of Forza 7 is a way of improving their grasp of the Forza racing experience and in response to fan criticism. Additionally in a Forza Monthly livestream dated July of 2018, Esaki stated that the team wasn’t working on Forza 8. Signs would not point to a new Forza this year, but let’s keep an eye out.
