XBOX BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY

Microsoft started its backward compatibility program nearly halfway through the life of the Xbox One, and when they announced it at E3, it was something to behold. Not just because of how inherently impressive the whole thing was in terms of being retroactively applied to a console that didn’t originally support backward compatibility, but also in terms of how Microsoft took shots at Sony and Nintendo as well. While the two of them were marching onward with nary a thought for the games they were leaving behind, getting people to buy remasters and what have you, Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra took the stage at E3 2015 and promised that on Xbox, people wouldn’t have to pay to play the games they already owned.
