NINTENDO’S E3 POLICY
E3 is a time when companies like to bring out the big guns and make a show of it, to get people excited about the immediate as well as the distant future. In 2015, while Sony did that to great effect with titles that were far off in the future like The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Shenmue 3, Nintendo had a much more subdued showing. Following the show, talking about their approach to E3, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto defended Nintendo’s style, saying that as opposed to Sony, the Big N only wanted to talk about games that were coming out in the near future, rather than ones we’d be waiting for for years and years at least. In retrospect, it’s hard to find fault with that logic.
